π Verse of the Day
βFor to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.β
Reflection:
Centuries before Jesusβ birth, Isaiah prophesied these very names that we now use to worship Him. As Isaiah looked forward to the coming Messiah, God revealed to him the nature of this promised Savior - Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. More than just a man, Jesus was destined to be the incarnation of God Himself, sent as a vulnerable baby to identify with mankind.
On that silent night when quaking shepherds and rejoicing angels gathered around the infant Jesus, they were in the presence of the eternal Word who was with God from the beginning. The Everlasting Father was born as a helpless babe! The Prince of Peace arrived not to command armies, but to exemplify love and sacrifice. Christmas marks Immanuel - βGod with usβ - coming humbly out of indescribable love.
As we unwrap gifts and enjoy our holiday celebrations, may this awesome truth cause us to pause in wonder once more. Our Jesus, born so long ago yet existing forever, deserves renewed reverence and joyful praise!
Ask Yourself:
This Christmas, how can I renew my awe and worship of Jesus - the eternal Word made flesh who is Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace?
π Prayer of the Day
Lord Jesus,
I stand amazed at Your holy names that embody everything I need. Thank You for coming as my Wonderful Counselor, selflessly guiding me to live according to Your perfect will. Thank You for coming as my Mighty God to redeem and strengthen me by Your infinite power.
Thank You for embracing me as my Everlasting Father, showering me with eternal, unconditional love. And thank You for coming as my Prince of Peace, calming my anxieties and fears with Your comforting presence. On this special day, I celebrate Your birth and all You came to do for me.
My heart overflows with praise for You, my Savior and King! Amen.
π Quote of the Day
"He was created of a mother whom He created. He was carried by hands that He formed. He cried in the manger in wordless cries, the God who spoke all worlds into being."
β Saint Augustine
