📖 Verse of the Day
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Reflection:
“Love one another. As I have loved you, love one another.” In these profound words, Jesus captures the heart of His message and His life's work. In a world quick to draw lines of division—across class, religious practices, gender, and race—Jesus presents a love that transcends all barriers.
This is the love that saw Jesus kneel to wash the feet of His disciples, including Judas, the one destined to betray Him. Jesus' actions weren't deterred by Judas' impending betrayal or the deceit that marred his character. With the gentleness of a servant, Jesus showcased the depth of humility and sacrifice He calls us to embody.
Today, let's take a moment to consider our own hearts. Are we prepared to challenge our deepest convictions or risk our reputation in the pursuit of unconditional love? Let us pray for the vision to look beyond societal labels and the courage to embrace all with open arms, just as God calls us to. In a world torn apart by distrust and animosity, it is this bold, unbounded love that has the power to heal and unite, following in the footsteps of Jesus—stooping to elevate others.
Ask Yourself:
How does my understanding of Jesus' love influence the way I treat those who are different from me?
In what situations have I found it challenging to show love? What steps can I take to overcome these challenges?
🙏 Prayer of the Day
Lord,
This morning, Your message echoes in my heart, reminding me of the love You've shown—a love without limits or conditions. Teach me to embody that same love today. Help me see beyond the divisions that often separate us, to love as You love, deeply and unconditionally.
Give me the courage, Lord, to reach out with kindness and understanding, even when it's hard. Let my actions reflect Your compassion, breaking down walls and building bridges in their place.
I ask for the wisdom to navigate my day with this love as my guide, seeing Your face in everyone I meet. Inspire me to serve humbly, to forgive freely, and to spread Your love in every word I speak and every choice I make.
Thank you for Your perfect example of love. May I live it out, drawing others closer to You through my actions and presence.
Amen.
🖋 Quote of the Day
“We instinctively tend to limit for whom we exert ourselves. We do it for people like us, and for people whom we like. Jesus will have none of that. By depicting a Samaritan helping a Jew, Jesus could not have found a more forceful way to say that anyone at all in need - regardless of race, politics, class, and religion - is your neighbour. Not everyone is your brother or sister in faith, but everyone is your neighbour, and you must love your neighbour.”
