📖 Verse of the Day

“For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Reflection

Hundreds of years before Mary held her newborn son, the prophet Isaiah caught a glimpse of a coming King—a child, a son, promised to a weary, waiting world. This King wouldn’t arrive in power or splendor, but in humility. Not as a conquering warrior, but as Wonderful Counselor, offering wisdom and guidance to the lost. Not as a ruler demanding tribute, but as Mighty God, stepping into our humanity to save us.

Imagine the longing of those who first heard these words: a promise of an Everlasting Father, whose love would never fail, and a Prince of Peace, who could calm the storms within and around them. For them, it was a distant hope. For us, it’s a fulfilled promise.

This is the wonder of Christmas: Jesus came to bear your burdens, heal your heart, and rewrite your story with His grace. Today, as you prepare to celebrate His birth, let the weight of Isaiah’s prophecy sink in. The King has come. And He’s come for you. Let Him be your everything.

Ask Yourself

  • How does reflecting on the name of Jesus encourage you?

  • Which of His titles from Isaiah 9:6 means the most to you this season? Why?

🙏 Prayer of the Day

Heavenly Feather,

My heart stands in awe of these words Isaiah wrote so long ago—each name of Jesus a promise, each promise perfectly fulfilled in Your Son. You didn't send a distant ruler, but a Savior who draws near.

When I'm lost, You are my Wonderful Counselor. When I'm weak, You are my Mighty God. When I feel alone, You are my Everlasting Father. When chaos surrounds me, You are my Prince of Peace.

As Christmas draws near, let these ancient words stir fresh wonder in my heart. Thank You for coming for me. I surrender my life to You, and I am eternally grateful.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

🖋 Quote of the Day

"You can never truly enjoy Christmas until you can look up into the Father’s face and tell Him you have received His Christmas gift."

— John R. Rice

Together With Prison Fellowship

Christmas can be a very painful time of year for a prisoner’s child. They might see other families celebrating together and miss their mom or dad even more than usual. They might even wonder if their mom or dad in prison still thinks about them.

That’s why Prison Fellowship Angel Tree was first created—to connect families,  deliver Christmas gifts, and share the Good News of the Savior’s birth at this special time of year.

With Christmas just days away, would you consider giving to bless a prisoner’s child with an Angel Tree Christmas?
